in
its modern form was introduced in this country about 25
years ago by Bernard Wosien, a German dance professor who
had spent many years collecting dances from all over the
world.
He taught circle dancing at Findhorn, in North East Scotland.
From there, the interest spread rapidly, and local groups
sprung up all over the country. There are now well over
two hundred groups meeting regularly in the UK, and many
others abroad. There are also lots of weekend and longer
events at which circle dancing is the main attraction. A
quarterly periodical, “The Grapevine”, keeps dancers informed
about events, and includes interesting and informative articles.
